Artist Residency

People, Places, & Ideas

Big Heart Beats’ artist residencies offer immersive opportunities for artists to co-create and explore music, storytelling, and cultural expression in community settings. Rooted in collaboration and collective creativity, these residencies provide space for artists to develop new work, share knowledge, and engage with participants through workshops, performances, and interactive experiences that center education, connection, and impact.

These artist residencies are interactive, community-rooted experiences designed to spark collaboration, storytelling, and creative growth through the power of music, film, and cultural expression. These residencies bring together artists, educators, and community members in a shared space where art is not only created—but experienced, felt, and moved through.

Each residency is shaped by the environment and people involved, inviting participants to explore themes of identity, place, and possibility through interactive workshops, performance labs, and multimedia installations. Whether working with schools, cultural institutions, or grassroots organizations, Big Heart Beats fosters a supportive atmosphere where Indigenous perspectives, collective creativity, and educational engagement intersect.

Residencies may culminate in public presentations or installations, offering communities a chance to witness and celebrate the process. By integrating lived experience, cultural knowledge, and artistic practice, Big Heart Beats residencies aim to leave a lasting impact that resonates well beyond the studio or stage—empowering everyone involved to imagine and build a more connected, expressive future.
